"Magical City"

©2008 D.M. Le Bris

I painted this from memory.
While walking through a bird sanctuary,
I remember enjoying the peaceful sounds of nature
and the reflections in the water.
Looking up, toward the horizon I saw a city,
a fog caressing its buildings.
Suddenly, it was transformed into a mysterious
and magical place.

"Elise's Daughter in Gauguin's Garden"

©2008 D.M. Le Bris

I have many wonderful cousins.
As an only child, I spent all my summer vacations with them.
It was a time of wonder for me.
Elise is one of my Brittany cousins; we were born the same year,
a few months apart.
We both loved to draw.
We bore our first-born a few months apart.
I wanted to paint her daughter, Sandrine
I did it mostly from memory.
Now, Sandrine is an artist herself.

This old town,
near a river,
is from my imagination and memories.
It represents one of many beautiful French towns situated on a river.

"Conversation"

©2008 D.M. Le Bris

I have always been reluctant to paint an interior scene.
I took the challenge using a bit of imagination.
I am pleased with the result.
The colors are cheerful.
I would love to sit in that room
dreaming about the sea.
Two statues are conversing.

I design store windows for a beautiful boutique,
the "Renaissance Room"in Peterborough, NH.
One of these creations inspired me to make this painting.
Why not take one's pet bird for a walk?
